A Trip To The Land of Tulips - Keukenhof Gardens!

A Big Thank You to Ashwin Palande and his sister who captured most of the pictures below! If you find any of the picture amazing, you can be sure, It's not mine! :P However some of the photos have been taken by me!

Its been a while since i last posted, but its just that i kept these posts pending because i did not have time then. Anyway I'm here to show you one of the reasons, why Netherland is famous for.

I'm not the "Flower Loving" kinda guy but we decided to go to this place called "Tulip Garden". There is no way i would ever go to some place just to see Flower's! But i did go! and still wonder if i would ever do that again just to see flower's! Weird ! lol ! ....

BUT BUT BUT, THE FLOWERS LOOK STUNNING AND YOU FEEL LIKE GOING AND JUMPING ON THEM LIKE IT HAPPENS IN ALL THE INDIAN MOVIES, BUT NA, IF YOU DO THAT, I THINK THAT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME YOU'D EVER SEE FLOWER'S IN YOUR LIFE AGAIN!
Anyway get ready to get Amazed ...

Anyway, When someone ask's you what's special in the place you live, there is always these, three to four things really cool in one's place. Netherland is famous for Cheese, Wooden Shoes ( No one ever bother's wearing it, however its famous in the villages it seems), Windmills, the legal stuff in Amsterdam and finally Keukenhof, also called TULIP GARDENS. Even before coming here, people told me "Make it a point to go to the Tulip garden because It is famous" and that was the only reason we decided to go there.

We have never ever started in time to any trip and we never will. Initially no one was interested but after a few calls, all of them finally got ready and I had to literally pull some people out of their rooms. We reached the station, ate Finger Chips (With Onion , Mayonnaise and some Sweet Curry -Awesome) and got ready for this Never Ending Journey. It took more than 3 fuckin hour's to reach that place... and that too, to see some flower's !!!! This is wha u call sacrifice ! :P WE had to catch a train to reach a place called Leiden and then had to wait for a bus which would take us to the place called " Kuekenhof - The Land of Tulips ". Ahh wait a minute, We stood in the queue for about 1 hour or more to wait for this stupid bus.

Checking the other places in and around Eindhoven, made me realize that Eindhoven (the place we stay), is easily the most ugliest place in Netherlands. Every other place we have gone to is different and nice and Eindhoven is nothing without Pub Street. But its nice to stay in a Ugly place cos every time you go somewhere else you are defn going to see something better. :P

We had a 30 mins journey to the Tulip Garden by bus. Only in the Last Five minutes en-route you start seeing the Tulips and man oh man, it is beautiful if you have never seen a Tulip Garden before. It's a huge field of Tulip's with all kinds of colors from Black to White to Red to Pink and what not!! :P It looks really coooooool .... its different. Imagine a normal field that you usually see in India and instead of that, there are flowers, arranged in a stretch for miles of various colors. To Make it worse, there was a traffic jam and we had to sit inside the bus for a very very long time! We finally got down at and there were shit load of people. A lot of people. But i realised there were a lot of old people and hardly any teenager's. :) I think Tulip garden is for old people and family with kids and etc. But anyway we got lost inside as it was too big. We had to rush out of the garden in half an hour as we had a procession to look at.

Once a year , there is a parade/procession in this place. The entire parade starts from a certain place (i think) and it crosses this garden. The cars are decorated based on some theme. This years theme was " Books". The last years theme was "Various places around the world." They use about 3 lakh flowers to cover up the various vehicles based on the theme's. Well its really beautiful and cool. We luckily timed our trip to the Tulip garden because this show takes place once every year and we made it to that place on that day and that was the reason for the excess crowd. The vehicles can range from Monster trucks to cycles to car's to buses! -) Awesome! These vehicles travel for about 20 km and people watch this parade pass by their homes.

It's a 1 hour procession and the enthusiasm of the people is worth seeingThe police riding the cycles wore the helmets and even the helmets were decorated with flowers! Damn cool! :P

Tulip grow's only for about 2 months in Spring time (April, May)! This is the only time the garden is open. Because of the day coinciding with the parade, there were a lot of people and it was hard to take any photos!! Anyway, there were a lot of old people and shit loads of kids running around. The difference being, we were acting like Kids. We also did see a Working windmill at close up finally and also the fields of Tulips. Sexy i must say! But once again its Beautiful, really really beautiful. You will never ever see such kind of flowers anywhere in your life! We headed back about 6 and there was a massive crowd once again for the buses and we were literally dead. We made our way through the actual queue and somehow reached the front of the queue. We did manage to see about 25 % of the Garden eventually .. hopefully next time , i will see the entire garden.

Next time if people ask Me, have you been to the Tulip Garden ? My Answer for it would be "Oh yes, i have!! and once again ? Never till i am 70"! :P It is only for people who have lived their life and want to see something they have not seen, than what they usually see everyday. Somewhere in the middle, my head started spinning looking at only flower's and people posing everywhere! God! And also, Not that we werent posing! lol !! We tried resting our asses wherever we could.

I think the Motto of Tulip Garden should be : When your old and tired, of your life and seeing your wife, Come here and Look at these tulips's for a while ! :)

Regards,
Mehaal
